It has been another great week of learning at James Short Memorial School.
The warm weather has allowed students to enjoy the outdoors during recess as well as their regular classroom wagon walks this week. Thank you for continuing to ensure that your child is dressed and ready to be outside.
This week, all teachers throughout the school have been working hard to complete the January provincial assessments with students. These assessments will continue into the next couple of weeks. When the assessments are completed, teachers are looking forward to having the data from these assessments to be able to support programming for their students for the rest of the school year.
Stories and Stuffies – January 30th 5:30 pm – 6:30 pm
We are looking forward to welcoming all students and their families to our annual “Stories and Stuffies” night on Thursday, January 30th. This evening is an opportunity to listen to James Short Memorial staff read one of their favourite stories and introduce you to some literacy games you can play with your child at home. You can expect an invitation early next week to this exciting evening.
Birthday Food and Treat Bags
We know that birthdays are special days when students want to bring a treat to share with their classmates. Due to a variety of dietary restrictions, and in keeping with the CBE nutrition guidelines, we ask that birthday treats be reserved for parties at home. We are not able to hand out cupcakes, candy, cookies, popsicles etc. at school. If your child is bringing treat bags to share with their friends, we request that you and your child distribute them after school.
Lunches and Snacks
Please remember to send your child with a lunch and two snacks daily. If you require support with lunches, contact your child’s teacher.
