Welcome Back! 

We are excited to welcome back all students and staff after the winter break. 

For the next few weeks Ms. Taylor will be away.  Mrs. Shelagh Reading, a retired principal, will be Acting Principal while she is away.  She was at JSM for the last few days before the winter break and is looking forward to meeting all members of the JSM school community. 

Kindergarten Registration begins January 13th 

Do you have a child at home who was born in 2020?   If so, they are eligible to register for kindergarten.  Kindergarten registration is now done on-line.  Registration information can be located at: https://cbe.ab.ca/registration/registration/Pages/default.aspx 

Dress for the Weather 

Please dress appropriately for the very cold weather.  Students go outside for recess and lunch every day as well as for a weekly community walk.  As per CBE guidelines, if the temperature drops below –20 degrees Celsius, students will stay inside.   

Calling All Parents/Guardian Volunteers 

As we start to make plans for the rest of the year, we would appreciate the support of parent/guardian volunteers.  There are two ways to begin the volunteer clearance process: 

  1. Come to the school office with 2 pieces of government issued ID.  One must have a photo.  
  2. Log on to your MyCBE Account.  Under the forms template, you can begin the process.

Kindergarten Report Cards  

  • Progress in ELAL and Math, including comments, will be communicated to parents/legal guardians.  
  •  In June, progress in all discipline areas will be communicated to parents/legal guardians via the report card.  

Grades 1 – 3 Report Cards 

  • In January, progress in all discipline areas will be communicated to parents/legal guardians. 
  • Teachers will provide comments on student progress in ELAL and Math.

Are you wondering why your child’s bus is late?  The most current information about our buses can be found using the MyBusStop App.  MyBusStop provides real-time information on a subscriber’s bus location, route stops, route traffic, route schedule, route progress and possible bus delays.  There are 3 steps to get access to MyBusStop:
